ABOUT EMIL – PHOTOGRAPHER, COFFEE ENTHUSIAST & DIY CREATIVE
My photography journey began in 1983, when I photographed my best friend’s wedding — and I’ve been hooked ever since. What started as a passion quickly grew into a career, leading me to become the “go-to” photographer for De Beers in Kleinzee, where I had the privilege of photographing Mr. Nicky Oppenheimer on several occasions. These experiences helped refine my skills, particularly in portrait photography, which remains my true photographic passion
When I’m not behind the camera or editing images, you’ll likely find me enjoying a Cortado at a local café, getting stuck into a DIY project, or brainstorming my next styled shoot.
I believe every person I photograph has a story worth telling — and I’m passionate about capturing it with authenticity and care.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Among others I was privileged to photograph the wedding of Simon & Estee Coetzer from Survivor SA. A corporate commission from the Mpumalanga Tourist Authority also offered me the opportunity to photograph celebrities: The late Xolani Gwala, Zwai Bala as well as “Baby” from Generations (to mention a few). I have been honoured to have some of my photographs published in international magazines. More recently I photographed the Smile FM presenters and management at the lovely Roodebloem Studios in Woodstock as well as the Western Cape Government Service Excellence Awards.

ABOUT LORRAINE – DOCUMENTING MOMENTS IN STILLS & VIDEO
Although I’m a more recent convert to the art of photography, I’ve been capturing professional images since 2022. My style naturally complements Emil’s: while he focuses on posed portraits, I’m drawn to the real, unplanned moments — the laughter, the quiet glances, and the details that tell the story of your event.
I work as a hybrid shooter, blending photography and short video clips, documenting events as they unfold in both still images and video footage. I assist Emil during weekend shoots and school holidays, helping ensure that together, we capture every angle of your session or event.
When I’m not behind the camera or working on our website and social media pages, I’m usually wandering through A Cape Town forest, photographing mushrooms, squirrels, and birds, or simply enjoying the little details of the world around me
I love observing life as it happens — and that’s exactly what I aim to capture in every image.
NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY
Give me a wedding or event to photograph and I will be ecstatic. Equally, give me a long lense or macro lense and send me into the wild and I will be content to spend the day sitting quietly waiting for the perfect shot.
