WHY SHOULD YOU INVEST IN A PORTRAIT SHOOT
AN INVESTMENT LIKE NO OTHER
In the world of Finance, the value of an investment ordinarily increases over time. Various factors, viz. the financial institution approached, the experience and acumen of the broker, etc. all contribute to the yield. Undisputedly, this evokes a deep sense of satisfaction within the investor. Every so often the investor would reflect on the excellent choice made regarding the product, i.e. the investment. With each passing year the value would increase and so would the investor’s level of satisfaction.
A VISUAL INVESTMENT
The following paragraphs may seem to be a direct contradiction of the above, but the parallels are quite surprising. You see, the wise decision of investing a sum of money with a trusted financial institution and the idea of having a visual image of yourself produced by a competent and experienced visual artist share many similarities.
Although, at first glance, the idea may seem preposterous, the statement may be put in perspective by asking yourself the following question: What emotions were evoked within you whilst paging through a family photo album? May I suggest curiosity and a tinge of sadness being two? The image in the mirror does not quite correspond to that on some of the Album pages. Neither do the images of, e.g. your grandparents resemble what they look like now. A great pity that their portrait photographs in the photo album are somewhat blurry, not so? A properly lit photograph would have solved the problem. So too would a photographer able to “read” the moment and immortalise that for posterity.
HEADSHOTS vs PORTRAITS
Both a headshot and a portrait photograph of, e.g. yourself would serve to have others (friends and/or family) be able to “see” you for decades to come.
Whereas a headshot would be a clear and well-lit image, quite suited to a variety of uses such as an application for a job, a staff photograph, etc., a portrait serves to visually illustrate who you intrinsically are; what you do (a composer; artisan; CEO; 200m Springbok athlete; etc.) A hundred years from now others would still be able to “see” you. Many may marvel at your beauty; the sophistication evident by the tilt of your head; the determination etched on your face as you’re lining up at the starting blocks; the warmth of your smile.
This why you elect to have your portrait done: A moment, an era, a time captured forever.
